Preparation
- Start by boiling a large pot of salted water and cook your pasta according to the package directions. Aim for al dente—firm, yet tender. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, crumble the Italian sausage into the pan. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Toss in the sliced onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions become translucent, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Add the sliced bell peppers to the skillet. Sauté until they soften, about 5-6 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and let everything simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Combine the cooked pasta gently into the skillet, ensuring each strand is coated with that rich, flavorful sauce.
- Finally, taste and add salt and pepper as needed. Serve your sausage and peppers pasta hot, garnished with Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
Choose high-quality sausage, consider adding red pepper flakes for a kick, and don't forget fresh herbs for garnish. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
