Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 200 g spaghetti Use your favorite type of spaghetti.
  • 150 g mushrooms, sliced Cremini, shiitake, or portobello are great options.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Extra virgin for best flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Freshly minced garlic enhances flavor.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Season generously.
  • Fresh parsley for garnish Chopped parsley adds freshness.
  • Parmesan cheese (optional) For a richer taste, sprinkle on top.

Method

Cooking the Pasta
  1. Begin by boiling a large pot of salted water. Add your spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water before draining.
Sautéing Ingredients
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about a minute until it becomes fragrant.
  2. Toss in the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, allowing them to become golden brown and tender. Season with salt and pepper.
Combining Pasta and Sauce
  1. Once the spaghetti is cooked and drained, add it to the skillet with the mushrooms. If it seems dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to bring it all together. Toss until the spaghetti is well coated with the mushroom mixture.
Garnishing
  1. Finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley and, if desired, some grated Parmesan cheese on top.
Serving
  1. Serve hot and enjoy your creation!

Notes

For a creamy variation, consider adding a splash of heavy cream or a spoonful of crème fraîche. Customize by using different types of mushrooms or adding protein like chicken or shrimp.
