Main ingredients

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips Use high-quality chocolate for better flavor.
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • Butter and cocoa powder for greasing ramekins Use for preventing sticking.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Grease four ramekins with butter and dust them with cocoa powder to prevent sticking.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate chips together until smooth, stirring frequently.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg yolks, and sugar until pale and slightly thickened.
  5. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until combined.
  6. Gently fold in the flour, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  7. Divide the batter evenly among the ramekins.
Baking
  1. Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.
  2. Let the cakes cool for 1 minute, then carefully run a knife around the edges and invert onto a plate.

Notes

For the perfect molten chocolate cake, monitor baking time closely to avoid overbaking which can lead to a dry cake. Consider chilling the batter for a firmer center.
