Preparation
- In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of heavy cream, 1 cup of whole milk, and 3/4 cup of granulated sugar until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of pure vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or overnight for the best results.
Churning
- Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. Usually, this takes about 20-25 minutes.
- If desired, fold in any add-ins like chocolate chips or fruit at the last few minutes of churning.
Freezing
- Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
- Scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy your homemade masterpiece!
Notes
For the best texture, make sure your ice cream maker is pre-chilled before adding the mixture. Over-churning can lead to ice crystals, so keep an eye on it as it churns. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can still make ice cream by placing the mixture in a shallow dish and stirring every 30 minutes until it reaches the desired consistency.
