Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-ins
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8x8-inch baking pan by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Mix until well blended.
  3. Stir in the vanilla extract. In another bowl, mix together the rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  4. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout your batter.
  5. Pour your cookie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden-brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting them into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to a week at room temperature. Wrap individual squares in plastic wrap and freeze for longer storage. If they start to brown too quickly, cover with foil while baking.
