Method

Preparation
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook your protein of choice, stirring in cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until fully cooked. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. In another pan, warm the tortillas briefly on both sides until pliable.
Assembly and Cooking
  1. On each tortilla, place a good amount of the filling, followed by a sprinkle of cheese.
  2. Once assembled, place another skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully add the tacos, and using a spatula, gently press down on each taco until they are flat and crispy.
  3. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat, top with your favorite fresh toppings like diced avocados, cilantro, or salsa, and serve warm.

Notes

Ensure your skillet is hot before adding the tacos for that perfect crunch. Don’t overcrowd your skillet; cook in batches if necessary. For best flavor, let your filling simmer for a few minutes to meld the spices together. Always warm your tortillas to prevent them from cracking when smashed.
